The New Kadence Repeater Block

the new kadence repeater block

Kadence Blocks Pro has a new advanced block, the Repeater Block. In this walk-through I use Kadence theme pro to create a single template for a Custom Post Type and show how to use the new Repeater Block. Note that Kadence theme pro is not required to use the Repeater Block. It is a feature of Kadence Blocks Pro.

Discussion and Conclusions

Kadence Blocks was one of the first block collections which was launched even before Gutenberg was included in WordPress core. Kadence Blocks is a top tier option and the Kadence team has kept them there by periodically updating and the collection and by adding new features.

There is a continuum of site builders. At one end you have advanced users who want total control and the full range of possible features. At the other end there are new users who want everything preconfigured and who are happy with fewer options as long as it is all easy. Kadence has targeted the middle ground. They have tried to make working with the theme and blocks straightforward and intuitive, but also have not shied away from advanced features when they think their target user base needs them. Consequently, Kadence appeals to entrepreneurs, creatives, and small businesses and to site builders serving that audience.

On that continuum from easy to technical, repeaters are definitely on the more advanced end of the spectrum. However, repeater functionality is fairly common across plugins providing custom fields: ACF, as we have seen, but also Meta Box, Toolset, JetEngine and others, support repeater fields. Before Kadence added the Repeater Block people would need to install other blocks or use custom code, but that’s no longer necessary. Kadence now supports repeater fields.

There is a lot of competition between Gutenberg-based solutions. The introduction of the Repeater Block will help Kadence stand out from the crowd, and it shows that Kadence is a serious option. Kudos to the Kadence team for keeping Kadence fresh and relevant, for adding new advanced features, and for moving Kadence blocks forward.
