The Crocoblock team provides the JetEngine plugin for creating Custom Post Types and custom fields. They have another plugin JetThemeCore for managing theme templates and the JetSmartFilters plugin for creating front-end filters. These are full featured plugins that are alternatives to options like Advanced Custom Fields, Meta Box, Pods, or Toolset. Crocoblock started out being just for Elementor, but over the past couple of years has been adding support for Gutenberg.

I’ve known Nelson Therrien for a long time. He helps to run the Dynamic WordPress Facebook group. For a long time Nelson used Toolset almost exclusively when building WordPress sites, but some time ago he switched over to using Crocoblock JetEngine. He commented to me that it takes a bit to figure it out, but once he did, he preferred JetEngine over Toolset. I asked him if he might share information about JetEngine and he created a couple of videos on his YouTube channel. I also created a few and I thought it would be good to list them together for anyone looking for some good walk-throughs and information about using JetEngine.

Concluding Remarks

The Crocoblock team continues to bring more of their plugins over from Elementor to also support Gutenberg. This seems like a smart move on their part because working with the block editor has become more popular. At the same time, it is now also possible to use JetEngine with Stackable Blocks, the Bricks Builder, and Piotnet Grid. As support continues to expand, there is less lock-in to one builder and more flexibility as to which tools we will use in creating our websites.
